Care and Guidance

Our Post 16 students take part in a tailored Tutor Time programme, which includes developing employability skills, monitoring progress, preparation for 鈥榥ext steps鈥 whether that be university, apprenticeships or employment. Part of the programme also encourages them to debate and discuss wider social and political issues associated with modern day living.

  • Peer Mentoring

At The 新月直播 we understand the impact that older role models have on younger students. 聽To support our younger students both academically and pastorally, we train all our Post 16 students to be Peer Mentors. 聽Through a one-day training programme all Peer Mentors receive a mentoring diary and a pin badge to enable them to be identified whilst around The Academy.

  • Careers Advice and Guidance

Our students have access to 新月直播 Careers Advisor, Ruth Evans. She is available to meet with students on a one-to-one or group basis. Simone Wales, our work experience and business mentoring coordinator has forged outstanding links with local universities and businesses. We use these links extensively to ensure that our students are well prepared for their next steps.

  • UCAS

All students have the opportunity to apply for university admissions and are supported to do so by beginning the process in Year 12. Our Higher Education evening supports students to choose the right course, to understand the application process and student finance. Lectures and seminars on how to write a personal statement, applying for the right course and student finance are offered, along with an annual visit to the UCAS Roadshow.

  • Apprenticeships and Employability

We also value the importance of Apprenticeships and employment routes and launch our Apprenticeship and Employability Programme every January.
